A DRINKING charge against Melbourne Cup-winning jockey Greg Hall was dismissed by the Warrnambool Magistrates Court yesterday.
The charge was among seven counts of being drunk in a public place against individuals during the carnival that were dismissed.Hall, who won the Melbourne Cup on Subzero in 1992, was arrested by police at 3.30am on Wednesday and detained.Meanwhile, bail for 26-year-old jockey Brian Park, who rode Hamilton-owned Dolphin Jo in the Warrnambool Cup, was extended.Park, of Lynbrook, was arrested and taken into custody on Wednesday morning. He is charged with two counts of resisting police, being drunk in a public place and one charge of conduct detrimental to the running of a police jail.Park's defence counsel Amanda Chambers asked for the matter to be adjourned for one month. Magistrate Michael Stone extended Park's bail until June 1.? The John O'Shea-trained Fooram secured a trip north for the rich Brisbane Cup next month after winning yesterday's Wagga Cup (2000 metres). The three-quarter-length win by Fooram, the $3.20 favourite, also thwarted Bart Cummings' attempt to take one of Australia's most important country cups at his first attempt when Mi Casa ($12) finished second. The Damien Oliver-ridden El Meroo ($4) was a further 11/4 lengths away third.? Gold Coast trainer John Wallace yesterday had a stewards' inquiry into an elevated bicarbonate level returned by one of his gallopers further adjourned because of ill health.Wallace was asked to front stewards last month following a high bicarb reading from three-year-old Boffa, who finished seventh in a restricted race at the Gold Coast on March 31.-- with WARRNAMBOOL STANDARD
